Bringing the MAFP to communities across Minnesota: A look at our 2025 regional meetings

In 2025, the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP) CEO Maria Huntley, CAE, MAM, and COO Jami Burbidge, CAE, MAM, hit the road visiting clinics, local practices and community gathering spots across the state to make sure our leaders meet members where they live and work. From small towns to regional centers and suburban clinics, we made stops far and wide, giving family physicians from every corner of Minnesota the chance to connect with the MAFP in familiar, local settings.

These visits give family physicians, residents and medical students space to share what they’re seeing in their practices and training, highlight local needs and hear updates on MAFP initiatives. The conversations help shape our advocacy, education and member-support efforts and ensure we stay responsive to the realities of practicing family medicine across the state. Recent stops included Montevideo, Mankato, Grand Rapids, Detroit Lakes, Bigfork and Nisswa.

A recent visit to CCM Health in western MN meant that MAFP leaders were able to meet with family physicians on the OB team and have a meaningful conversation. “Our team had the opportunity to highlight the incredible care, collaboration, and commitment that drive positive outcomes for families across western Minnesota.”
